Comments Thread For: Jose Zepeda Enters Multi-Fight Managerial Agreement With Rick Mirigian

Jose 'Chon' Zepeda is making power moves ahead of the biggest fight of his career. BoxingScene.com has confirmed that the veteran junior welterweight contender has entered a multi-fight managerial deal with longtime influential industry figure Rick Mirigian. The deal comes as Zepeda awaits word on his mandatory title shot versus lineal/WBC/IBF/WBO champ Josh Taylor (19-0, 13KOs), which saw its original purse bid date for Tuesday pushed back to June 10.

Jose Zepeda is a boxer-puncher, who can take a punch, get down in the trenches, and fight like a proverbial bat out of hell.
His two losses are questionable, the first on a injury suffered (dislocated shoulder), in his first opportunity at a world title against Terry Flanagan.
The second was a majority decision loss in his second shot at a title which could've been a draw the score cards were that close against Jose Ramirez.
Both who were undefeated champions when Jose Zepeda challenged them, as was Zepeda when he challenged Flanagan.
Josh Taylor better be very careful when he defends his title against Zepeda, because if he thought Jack Catterall was tough, he'll find Zepeda even tougher.
I actually think Zepeda has a better than even chance to unseat Taylor from his throne, if Taylor doesn't put on his best boxing on fight night.

Wow, that's a bit harsh. Zepeda is a guy who often fights down to his competition. His loss to Flanagan was a fluke injury and his other loss was a disputed majority decision to Ramirez. He beat Jose Pedraza, Carlos Diaz, stoped Baranchyk and just brutally iced out Josue Vargas.

I'd argue Catterall is "just a guy" and alot of people think he lost to Taylor. Maybe that's all Zepeda needs to be to defeat Josh.
