He wants to be known as the best fighter ever, then yeah, he should finally step up to Usyk at heavyweight. Finally fight someone with a pulse and stop mass cherrypicking of 160-175 fighters.

      4. Benavidez at 168

      Still high risk fights:

      1. Bivol at 168
      2. Andrade at 168
      3. GGG at 168
      4. Joe Smith jr. at 175
i'd favour all the above against him apart from joe smith (good fighter but perfect for canelo, big slow and stiff)and maybe GGG cause of age. Id pick charlo to beat him too and spence at that catchweight they were talking about. buatsi would beat him aswell, maybe even jean pascal

Bivol (obviously), Beterbiev, and mayyyyyybbbeeee Charlo. Benevides has skills too but way too leaky defensively. Ggg is too far past prime. Smith, while certainly powerful, has almost no defense. Andrade has virtually never been in with even one quality opponent, so no.

Canelo will avenge the Bivol fluke and show that he underestimated him. Everyone else canelo still beats.
Fluke? Your really reaching here. Bivol dominated the first fight mostly because of his great ability to control distance. The ways to neutralize that is fast feet and/or reach. Canelo has neither. If a Bivol/Canelo rematch gets made, look for Bivol to win another easy decision (crooked scorecards be damned).

Control distance? That’s not what I remember. Canelo was all over Bivol, throwing power punches, blocked by Bivol’s impenetrable defense. Bivol looked like prime Winky Wright in there with his guard. Canelo had no issue getting up close to Bivol and letting his hands go on him. Problem is Bivol
blocked them too well. A few got through between the guard but not frequently enough.

I will need to rewatch the fight because now I am second guessing myself due to your post. But from what I remember it was a close quarters fight with Bivol using a good defense to block Canelo’s punches, and coming back at Canelo with great accuracy.

It wasn’t some toe to toe brawl, but I didn’t see any fighter creating distance from the other all that well. I thought it was a very close quarters fight.

If Canelo’s issue really was that Bivol was creating distance between them too well, then he doesn’t have much to worry about in a rematch. Just focus on cutting off the ring. But it wasn’t that, Bivol was always right there in front of him. Getting hard punches through the guard was what I saw Canelo’s issue being. Which is actually why the rematch will still be very difficult for Canelo. In a rematch, Bivol isn’t all of a sudden going to not use his defense. He is going to do the same thing. Canelo needs to stop head hunting and focus on jabbing and working the body. Bivol was there to be thrown at, Canelo’s punches had little to no effect on Bivol’s guard though.
