  • This is a myth that Buatsi dominated early and Spider started slow, Buatsi won a lot of rounds between 5 and 10, this was even after 4

Night could turn to day in the time it took for either of their shots to travel. Not to mention technically poor hooks and uppercuts - either wild or feeble - and a near absence of foot movement; albeit Richards moved his body and head a bit more.

Buatsi, by contrast, is stiff as I was first time I saw softcore. Will achieve nothing.
Buatsi would get absolutely crushed by Benavidez and Morrell right now. Not to mention the obvious 175 champs.

Buatsi was definitely tired after that 6th round and looked to me like he was a little unsure of his tank and had to manage it the rest of the fight; Richards never really picked it up to take advantage , just didn't have the extra gear himself - Buatsi could have been in trouble if he had. . Buatsi inside work is a nice improvement I would say, maybe his best sustained work came in there
Virgil is definitely teaching him some dirty in-fighting, ala Ward. When he was fatiguing, the infighting kept him in it. Buatsi has "win at all cost" mentality, and you can tell by the way he fights. Richards doesn't seem to have that pitbull in him.

You know what, you could probably reel off a list of (more) natural SMWs that would do him in, too.

I mean it when I say this: Billy Joe Saunders would beat him.

          • Richards gave a tough test to Bivol also. these guys are huge 175 fighters.

I agree. I think Plant would outbox him as well. How do you think Benn does at 147 vs the top 5-7?

              • Decent action if a bit sloppy in parts.

Both guys showed a lot of heart, much respect. Buatsi is good, but I certainly can't see him having much of a chance against Bivol and Beterbiev.

There was talk of him getting a fight with Canelo, but I think that's out of sight at the moment. Of course, he could get that fight and it might be a good confidence builder for Canelo before any rematch with Bivol.

Seems like Richards is picking up his game in being more active but still has some improvement for the early rounds.
This seems fair. It might not have been so easy as I stated.

I was literally thinking about Plant when I said it, funnily enough

Benn: I like him, but Spence and Crawford destroy him, no question. Don’t know enough about the rest, prob Ugas beats him.

IMO, we’re going to find out what happens when a boxer who looks phenomenal on his way to the top gets on when he finds someone who (1) can take his shots, and (2) can read him so they don’t have to take them.

It’ll be no disgrace, mind. Benn came into the game without an amateur career
