I'm one of Hearn's biggest critics on here. I don't want Davis to go anywhere near him. However, if he'll guarantee him 60 mil for 3 select fights, chosen by Gervonta, I'm all for it. The first one I wanna see is Davis-Loma. Second William Zepeda. The last one is whomever makes a money sense for both. This is conditional on Davis winning the first fight. Otherwise, contract renegotiated, or canceled. Hearn can afford it and he might make some change in the end.

If those opponents are not available, they can jointly choose alternatives (at 135 or 140).

Hearn can choose one fight in the UK against a UK area fighter.

Can Hearn negotiate with Oscar and Bob? That's where the fights Davis needs are. Money talks tho. Throw Loma 10 mil for a Davis fight. Arum would be all smiles.

I think Eddie Hearn lets himself down badly. He is clearly the most competent promoter in boxing but his ego, blabbing and lack of emotional intelligence means he has triggered too many other more 'political outfits' against him. This has done a big dis-service to his clients as now those outfits won't do business with him easily so he can't get big fights for his fighters.

I don't believe he is a 'political operative' in the way that majority of others - e.g. Top Rank, Queensberry, PBC, Golden boy etc are. Most of those outfits have very questionable practices and definitely are not working in favour of majority of their stable (with exception of 1 or 2 stars who they front their operation with).

Credit to Hearn however is that he doesn't refuse to work with others but he leaves a history that means others are obsessed with seeing him fail even if they lose out in the process. So many examples like when PBC failed to succeed he made some comments indirectly taunting them. Haymon (IMHO) is one of the most shady characters in boxing and absolutely cannot stand his silent / toxic influence over big fights being made, nor the fact he basically circumvents the Ali Act (serving as manager and promoter (in practice) at same time). Arum is really more of the same - just that in his case it's more open.

Frankly the best thing in boxing would be for Hearn to succeed as he isn't stopping big fights and is willing to go way beyond other promoters to make big things happen. I just hope he learns his lesson as I think Andrade, Haney and many others would have stayed with him if he didn't behave like a 5 year old egging on his competition. If he can do that then I do believe he will be unrivalled as he is still on 42 years old so has a lot of potential.

Those defending PBC, Queensberry, Top Rank etc really have no ground to stand on. Also this whole idea that the race of the promoter makes a bit of difference isn't helping. Judge them based on their actions / practices. I don't think WBC truly represents Mexican fighters any more than PBC represents Black fighters - as long as their is corruption it hurts fighters of all colours. Tribalism is killing the sport and people supporting promoters / outfits based on race is most ridiculous thing as most people are hurting their own race the most. TRUE supporters realise this.

Promoters all hate the other promoters making money but at the same time secretly admire them for it.
Making fights has never been easy.

If one promoter thinks another is useless, a piece of trash, doesn’t work hard for his clients like they do, steals their money, gets overpaid, then how can they not secretly be jealous if not admire them?

There’s only been so many big time lasting promoter’s in the sport. People getting into must have looked up to what they have seen before them. We can’t seriously believe everyone gets into it cause they want to be more fair to everyone involved unlike other promoters? You know bring the prices down for the common fight fans. Stack the cards with high level championship fights top to bottom? Affordable seating for grass roots fans?
I mean geez, there’s hardly anyone there until it’s close to the main event in some of these “big” affairs”.
I know there’s a lot of real female fight fans that would love to afford a ticket. When the hard cam is on the ring, and yes they look dolled up and beautiful… still why are there so many girls in the front rows with their heads buried into their phones all fight? We’ve all seen it, commented on it. It is what it is.
It makes you admire College football where everyone there is invested and into the game.

Ellerbe is right. Hearn has not built an american star. His american fights have abysmal numbers. Even at his best, he could not reach mayweather promotion numbers in $$$. He has been conceding in purse bids left and right on top of that. Hearn is now on canelo's nuts, an already established star. His biggest star AJ is looking really bad recently, and I feel usyk is going to school him or even KO him this time. Hearn is f'ked.
