  • Comments Thread For: Hearn Fires Back at De La Hoya's Comments: 'Don't Do Drugs, Kids'

Eddie Hearn could not help but be amused by the recent criticism directed at him by fellow promoter Oscar De La Hoya. De La Hoya, the head of Golden Boy Promotions, excoriated Hearn recently after Canelo Alvarez dropped a unanimous decision to Dmitry Bivol earlier this month in their 12-round light heavyweight title bout at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

You just should relay that message to Conor Benn Eddie, he loves a stripe.

Oscar and Eddie fighting over Canelo is quite funny, it’s like the jilted ex lover vs the new side piece.

Exactly, what should Oscar care at this point? It's because he isn't over Canelo, not in the least. He stares at photos and re-reads texts lol.

fact is the narrative has been completely changed as usual by canelo fans to fit their agenda, they are now making out canelo was fighting king kong with one arm tied behind his back and he was some underdog who the world were pressuring him into fighting the great world famous bivol and he had no choice but to accept the challenge and please the fans.in the real world he was a massive favourite with the bookies, there was no demand for the fight because bivol looked like crap recently and in the ring magazine predictions not a single 'expert' had canelo losing, not one out of 25 or so... it was meant to be a walk in the park for him, some even had him bombing bivol out early. it was a stay busy fight until the big money maker against GGG later on in the year, they considered bivol so dangerous that they had already started arranging the next fight in advance. but what happened is that he fought someone for the first time in years who had a bit of self belief, a game plan and a bit of movement and he beat canelo without getting out of 2nd gear, he made it look so so easy and people will never look at canelo the same way again, he was meant to be the face of boxing, people even comparing him to mayweather and pacquiao, saying he could beat usyk, win a belt at heavyweight, all that hype and he got made to look like a novice (not for 1st time in his career) but of course his 'fan base' will have their excuses ready, i even saw some saying hes getting too old yet they acted as if GGG was fresh as a daisy when canelo fought him, just pathetic. fact is people hyped up the wrong guy, i will be honest he duped me i thought a basic fighter like bivol wouldnt be able to beat him,but i think maybe reading the propaganda day in day out from canelo fans on here makes you start to think you know what maybe this guy is actually really good but obviously not, lesson learnt.

            Very good post here.

I didn't really fall for the hype tho. I picked Bivol. I wanted Canelo and his fans to be humbled and it happened. I used to be a big Canelo fan. To me, the last memorable fight of his, was that body shot that almost killed Liam Smith.

            Out!

I didn't quite understand how Canelo could be a big favourite against Bivol. The hype was bought into somewhat.

Oscar said something ****** though. If we don't get big fights, the sport goes down further into a niche sport. Eddie also speaks a lot, doesn't always say the right thing. Promoting is a tough job.

As for the fight, I commend Canelo for having taken the fight. He's one tough as teak fighter, although he was never as talented as Mayweather.

Young Edward is right here and Oscar is behaving like a crackhead. Oscar believes that Canelo should be kept from being the heavy favourite. Credit to Hearn for putting him in with a real challenge over the direction DLH wants….he’s just another of the boxing establishment who wants to keep Canelo winning at all costs

Amusing......but you're falling for someone else's hype who hasn't accomplished a fraction of what Canelo has!?
