I loved what the black dude on Pardon the Interuption said in regards to Mayweathers STATEMENTS ABOUT IF HE WAS WHITE HE'D BE THE BIGGEST THING IN SPORTS"I've seen Mayweather fight and he is BOORINGGG" .The truth is defensive fighters NEVER have fans-from Sweat Pea-to Willie Pep(white)-they may be appreciated by other FIGHTERS but the general public wants to see vicsous KNOCKOUTS and FLOYD DON'T PRODUCE AND never HAS produced those coma highlight reel ko's like say a TYSON or a GATTI.also being PETRIFIED to take a clean punch(I'm sure seeing daddy and uncle rog's porcelin chins shatter early and often may have something to do with that)does NOT LEAD to the most scintilating of fights.Plus as I remember it was mostly BLACK celebrities walking out on Floyd when he fought Baldimir. The guy is a BOORING FIGHTER .PERIOD.I used to put Floyd/Baldimr in to torture my nephews ,untill I realized that it was giving them POST TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER.

i admit fmj isn't the most exiting fighter in boxing, but he does put a fighter on his back here and there...if he's taking a page out of hopkins book though, he's doomed...he'd be lucky if the crickets show up to the fight...

Whether his comments were made in poor taste is another subject. I'm just calling them for what they appear to be - a sales tactic since they were made the week of the fight.
When I say "taking him seriously" I'm referring to those who might take his comments to heart and in turn want to drop down money to see him lose which is precisely what he wants. You can find his comments as an ignorant way to sell the fight and criticize him for it, I see no problem with that.
The irony in attempting to draw parallels to Hopkins' comments is that Calzaghe-Hopkins wasn't exactly a big sell. For that matter, neither was Hopkins-Wright, which saw Bernard offer the last ditch effort of swinging at Wink after the weigh-in and by his own admission.
Hopkins' white boy comment helped push interest in order to get the fight made, and more in his self-interests a guaranteed payday from HBO. But I'll always dispute the argument that such "salesmanship" results in financial gain. In fact, I'll take it a step further and counter that it only confirms the poor sales and general lack of interest (relatively speaking) surrounding the event.

There are only so many different ways to play the villain before you eventually cross the line and simply become pompous for pompous’ sake. Even when you reach that point, you can still maintain a level of respect among your peers. It ain’t bragging when you’re that good, and the sad truth about boxing is that negative publicity is still publicity. [details]
Does he even proofread his work?

I can't help but laugh at people who take these comments seriously. There are people STILL not willing to let go of what Hopkins said. Talk about falling for something hook, line, and sinker...
