Marquez Doesn't Consider Mexican-Americans real Mexicans?

I remember him saying in the Diaz fight that he is 100% Mexican and Diaz just 50% Mexican and now I am reading this on ESPN.

I am the first Mexican to be on HBO's "24/7," and it's a great honor to me. I try not to pay attention to it during training. I work out as though they weren't there at all, but deep inside I know it's a great honor to be the first Mexican to be featured on a show like that.
Juan Manuel Marquez opens his doors to ESPN Deportes in preparation for his Sept. 19 clash with Floyd Mayweather.

We all know De La Hoya was in a few 24/7's and he is Mexican-American but it appears that Marquez doesn't consider Mexican-Americans to be real Mexicans.

Umm... Marquez never said im the first REAL Mexican. He said he is the first Mexican. And if you think about it, he gets announced as such and calls himself as such. Two things ODLH does not do.

Sounds like to me like you are saying ODLH is not a REAL American?

ODLH is of Mexican parents he was just born on the USA so he is Mexican-American. From what I can see reading this and Marquez interview in the past it seems he doesn't look at Mexican-Americans the same way. Is like they are mixed to him and not real Mexicans.

I don't think he looks down on Mexican-Americans. He's just saying I was born in Mexico, I live in Mexico, I'm proud to be 100% Mexican IMO.

LOL thats what im saying, by the same book you don't consider him a real American either. You are saying he is Mexican-American. Why do you gotta add the Mexican? Why not just Americans.

In reality that plagues all of society. Mexican-Americans, African-Americans, etc its like they just aren't regular Americans, essentially saying they are .... different.

Don't get me wrong I don't believe in assimilation because with cultures being so rich there is no need to give such beautiful customs up but that is just the way it is.

If you dont give it up completely up your chances of loosing the Prefix are slim to none.

Marquez is a punkass chilango. I dont think he considers Mexicans born outside the capitol real Mexicans.
