Comments Thread For: Amir Khan Talks Injuries, Reflects on The Highs and Lows of His Career

I had him down as the best 140 on the planet at one stage. He took so many forward steps (the war with Maidana, the clinical dispatching of Judah, taking his L against Peterson etc.) but undone all his good PR chasing Mayweather.
His Silver in Athens did more for British boxing than people realise. It's ironic actually that him and Audley Harrison, for all they did for the sport in the UK; have been subjected to the most derision but there you go.
Its true, though ofc (1) the derision comes with the territory, and (2) Khan absolutely has earned the right to far less derision (though, arguably, the risk of getting your face smashed to death should motivate non-boxers like me to STFU, and delete all derision, really).
Audley, OTOH, is just the most mystifying case. No-one has satisfactorily explained what the hell happened to him 90% of the times he got in the ring. Khan fought brave, and sometimes downright ******, but Audley looked like he didn't wanna be in boxing, full stop.Comment

Now he's trying to tell us that he fought scared in the ring. You didn't have to reinforce that with me. I could see that the first time he ever entered the ring. Nothing ever impressed me with Amir Khan . Nothing. Absolutely the weirdest boxing style I ever seen. No power. Yes, he could knock out all time frauds like Canadian Phil LoGreco. But that's it . A feather fisted, glass chinned , hype from Britain. Good riddance.Comment

As suspected Khan tries all he might to defer the hammering he took at the fists of Kell Brook. No doubt Khan was suffuring injuries as was Brook and any fighter with the miles on the clock and many without.Khan has just got to learn to live with the fact Kell always had his number and that's why he never took the fight before.Khan is a serial liar and I think it will be me that will enjoy his retirement more than him !Comment

Your point about “people from the Middle East aging faster than people from the west”, is factually incorrect and just devoid of any truth.
First, Khan is Pakistani decent. I hope you know the difference between Arabs and Indians (includes Pakistan and ****ladesh).
Two, when you say people from the West, you’re obviously implying white people. This is just not true at all.
Black, Indigenous, and People of Color may be less to experience the effects of sun damage than white people. This is because white people can have less melanin in their skin. Melanin is a pigment that gives a person’s skin, hair, and eyes their color. Melanin can also help to harmful ultraviolet rays from the sun.
Some people from racial groups may find that they age differently from others. There are measures a person can take to reduce the signs of aging on their skin. Learn more.
There are tons of medical journals that disprove your opinion.
At no time anywhere in my response to you was I disrespectful in any way. Just keep that in mind.Comment

Zab wasn't no way past his prime when he fought Khan stop it. Zab was 33 years old and had just beat Matthyese and looked good. Zab was just tailor made for the tall rangy bigger Khan, just like Khan would never beat Brook at any point, Zab would have never beat Khan no matter how old he was because Khan is simply too big for him. Zab caught Khan with a couple clean hard counters right on the chin early and glass jaw Ariza shaked Khan walked right through them. Khan always did do pretty well against short guy's 5'7 and under, it's the taller heavier opponents that gave him problems.Last edited by Realizniguhnit; 05-17-2022, 06:40 PM.Comment

I should be more clear, I don't mean age faster in a physical appearance aspect. Khan still looks pretty young himself, but I really meant from a physical stand point. Whether you're middle eastern or arab you share a similar gene pool just like Americans of African descent and Jamaicans. Arabs will age or decline athletically faster this is due to the lack of emphasis on sports and poor healthcare and nutrition in many of these countries which gets past down. That is a fact. Khan was one of the best boxers to ever come from Pakistan descent and he didn't have a great career. Physically you could see the decline by the time he turned 30. At 30 Mayweather was just getting the bulk of his career started.
This clears up your initial post and I’m inclined to agree.
Do you think Khan’s decline was precipitated by the spectacular KO losses? What if Khan hadn’t been KO’d by Prescott and Garcia? Would his career have turned out different?
Guys like Broner, Jermaine Taylor, Lucian Bute, and even Kovalev were great until they got ****** up and the losses just piled up.

We are going to disagree. Zab was so done that my boy Malignagg beat him too. The Zab that fought Floyd would have destroyed Malignaggi and Khan on the same night.Comment

He was doing very good with Roach IMO as well, what he was doing wrong was that he was having wars in the gym with headguard and was putting his hands down when he punches during fight night and was getting caught.
He was changing a lot of coaches in a short period of time and that wasn't helping him as well, the last ****** move was that he joined the Crawford team for his last fight.
For the Garcia fight I believe that Garcia Sr. went a bit under his skin with some of his comments and fought aggressive and got caught.
His personal matters later on in his career didn't help him as well unfortunately.Comment
