Kovalev did good at his CW debut. Surprised me.

I was a huge Kovalev fan, as some of you might know, but the Canelo fight left me very bitter. Not because he lost, but because he sold himself out in that fight. He clearly wasn't properly trained, motivated, ready, nor recovered from the Yarde fight, but he took the money. This made me lose respect.

After an almost three year inactivity, being 39 years old, and his Canelo sellout fight, I was expecting a worse performance, but he proved that he still has something left.

He seemed properly trained for that fight, had stamina and energy for the 10 rounds, even landed sharp and snappy shots at the end. His boxing fundamentals are solid, his jab is good, and he might have a few fights left. Maybe even get a title.

Anyways, I was happy with what I saw.

didn't see the fight, but i agree with you, he was a drinker and wasn't training enough. Hopefully he can have a few more good fights

He looked solid. Didn’t look bloated, slow or undersized.

      Still has nice straight punches

It'd funny canelo beats kova " oh he's washed done, sold out, drunk" fake not real.

Canelo losses " canelo was in the best shape of his life just lost to better man" lol

Glad kova looked good last night that goes to show canelo deserves more credit for his destruction of him.

Trying to find the fight. Did he use the cautious, jab heavy style?

Posters on this site were claiming Kovalev took a dive against Canelo. They were being serious too. That's how pathetic the Canelo haters are.

Never said he was drunk. But he clearly was not 100% himself against Canelo. He looked loosey goosey since the opening bell.

He fought like he was taking a dive. he was fighting right before his court case for assault was coming up. I thought it might be his last cash out fight. Idk what happened with his court case but he hasnt went to jail so i guess it got throw out?

I'd say so,but as he started to get get more comfortable,he started mixing it up a bit with the right hand. I think that he's going to need to rely on his jab in order to beat the cruiserweights,as they might be able to take his power a lot better than the light heavies,so a surgical jab can win his the rounds. An interesting note is that he seams to take shots better than he did before,so there may be some truth to him having struggled to make 175.

Haven't caught the fight but as a big Krusher fan myself I agree, his performance against Canelo was very disappointing albeit not unexpected. Everything he threw had the snap of a wet noodle. After that war against Yarde he really needed a long layoff/recovery but you really can't fault him taking the fight,we're talking 12mil here. Boxers have a small earnings window and our "respect" isn't going to support thier families. He had a great run,the way he destroyed Pascal,Cleverly and got his revenge against Alvarez will always be my favorite moments of his career.
