Between August 2014, 2015, and 2016 Canelo Alvarez told the world that he was the face of boxing and too small to be a middleweight. One would think that as the face of boxing then he would go for as many belts as possible at his weight class, 154.

During this time the champions were Demetrius Andrade, Jermall Charlo, Erislandy Lara, Jermell Charlo, Liam Smith (who won Andrade's stripped belt).

He only fought one of these people.

After Canelo defeated Daniel Jacobs, he only needed to beat 2 more fighters to become undisputed at 168.

Jermall Charlo and Demetrius Andrade.

Instead he went to 168 and chose Callum Smith, Billy Joe Saunders, and Caleb Plant.
