Flat footed, one paced, mediocre cardio, and these days, very one dimensional offence with no jab and just throwing loaded up hay makers. In reality he never really improved much post Floyd, other than maybe more patience. He will always fight the same way, he was just lucky 168 was the weakest its ever been in history.

        That sums it up.

A lot of that is how hard he tries to punch with pretty much everything, Canelos build and style is not efficient its a power game for him and when he can land he is destructive, if the guy in front is not getting hit then frustration factors in which saps even more energy.

Canelo was also developing an ego like he is a God that can walk through anyone, the entire macho body language in and out of the ring is Im a rock and unbreakable, maybe now he understands his limitations that come from being human and he gets back to being the best fighter he can be at a weight that gives the best Canelo.

But I would not class Alvarez as a all-time great defensive fighter.

Note: No gears I.E Alvarez is a one paced fighter. Seems to struggle to throw caution to the wind. If Alvarez has this ability, he would of cause both Mayweather & Bivol more issues etc.

Miguel Cotto always appeared to be a one paced fighter, difference was? Cotto's endurance was world class, borderline super elite. Cotto could be unrelenting, shown in fights such as with Zab Judah.

Good points. Specially about the No gears.
I usually call it One Speed. But same shet.

Canelo also showed signs of frustration.
Something I haven't seen from him in a few years.

After struggling with elites at 154 -160 he decided to blow up thinking he would KO all guys there because they were considered worse boxers than Lara and GGG.

It worked at 168 perfectly because 168 division was never great anyway and right now it is the worst ever.

He was flat footed plodder even at 168, just guys there couldn`t benefit from that.

Seriously, Alvarez should lose a lot of weight, forget that mini Mike Tyson fighting style, return back to 160 where he was a great fighter to watch.

He run away from GGG thinking he would beat everybody at 168 -175 and fooling Mexican crowds how is he some p4p king sh.it.

If he keeps on doing that, he will take another loss to Bivol and if he ever meets Beterbiev, his skull might be broken, not only his ego.

Can you overcome his strengths is usually fighters problems, every boxer hascweakness. But if you step up and fight someone with physical advantages you might come unstuck like nel o did.
                  nel o was underdog
