Beterbiev was the true #1 at 175 when Canelo went up to fight Kovalev, Canelo didn't want Beterbiev him and his team knew the danger he poses. If he was truly about legacy he would have fought Beterbiev already.
They chose Bivol because he didn't have many KOs and seemed passive in his last few fights.
They thought Bivol was another Euro-bum who would run all night like old alcoholic Kovalev.
They didn't realize that inside, Bivol was a true man's man.
You have to work your way towards Beterbiev step by step, if that was the case. Eventually Alvarez maybe would of fought Beterbiev etc.
