Comments Thread For: Hearn: Bivol Won That Fight, The Judges Had it Right For Me, He Was Brilliant

Promoter Eddie Hearn fully agrees with Dmitry Bivol being tabbed the unanimous decision winner over Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez on Saturday night. At the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Bivol outboxed and outlanded Canelo over twelve rounds to retain the WBA light heavyweight title.

No they didn't. Like I said if this dude had tripped and they ruled it a knockdown, everyone would be singing a different tune. It was still setup to rob him. The right mishap didn't happen in the fight. Even a point deduction if holding was a part of his fight strategy.

I knew bivol footwork/speed was there yet pulling out the 1-2 & occasional 1-2-3 like it was 3 rd burst wasnt expecting plus he has the slavic chin. Canelo at 175 is too heavy hes to heavy they are too. 168 is his class. Beterbiev wouldve tko canelo . focus on ggg 168 get back win column hes super aged and ready for a clear cut W. Get charlo easy win again. benevadez end 2023 if win then can try175 again since david size is such.

That fight wasn’t even close. 117 would have been fair to Bivol. No disrespect to Canelo but he relies more on strength than boxing skills. The day his shots can’t make a dent in his opponent it becomes a bit tricky. He has been given some decisions he shouldn’t have had like against Cotto.

On the other hand you can’t shoot a man for testing out boundaries so it wasn’t really a loss.

I kinda called it, that Bivol could win. I just wasn't sure if he'd get the nod on the judges scorecards.

As you can see, they made it 115-113, I thought it wasn't as close as that. Some fans who don't know boxing thought Canelo would walk through him.

No, I said he ain't Saunders or Plant, he's much better. Even former greats gave ****** predictions. Hopkins said Canelo will smash him. Chavez said Canelo wins by ko within four rounds.

Man, they obviously didn't watch Bivol properly. The guy is the most skillful light heavyweight in the world, now pound for pound up there.

Give Canelo his due, he didn't have to take this fight, far more difficult than fighting Charlo or Golovkin. Benavidez? That's a difficult one too.

"the judges had it rightby me . . ." POS money whore. He had this fixed as soon as the judges were picked. They had it even going at the tenth!?! WT ACTUAL f? Anyway. I called a Bivol win but I shouldn't be surprised they tried to rob him.

My son is getting into boxing and asked if he could stay up and watch the fight. I didn't want him to hear me screaming at the acreen so I didn't watch the fight.

It sucks because my grandpa trained boxers. My dad and both of his brothers boxed. This is the dirtiest sport that I know of. It's heartbreaking in the end.

Scores were a joke, Canelo won 2 rounds.

Stick your head in the sand then and ignore all the compelling evidence.

Or answer this ... how did you score the first 4 rounds ? and why ?

I think Canelo pulled off a Mikey Garcia move here. There is no shame in losing to Bivol - you can see it in all the reaction on this thread and others - "lhw to heavy for him" - "true 168lb fighter", "carrying too much weight", "dared to be great" - same deal as Mikey moving up to fight Spence.

Mikey didnt fancy his chances against Lomachenko and a loss would have invalidated his claim to supremacy at 135lb. Same deal with Canelo. at 168 - Benavidez is high risk. Not only that but if he lost to David then some of his immense popularity with the Latino boxing community might switch allegiance to Benavidez. I can see Canelo fight Golovkin and Charlo before we see Benavidez. Benavidez can fight Plant and other up and coming fighters.
