Some give Lara more credit than he deserves--he had to run a lot to avoid the bombs Canelo was throwing. Lara is good but he didn't have the punch to make Canelo respect him. Maybe some past fighters would give Canelo a harder time at 175, like Michael Spinks, Holyfield or Dwight Braxton. But this is now.

Ricky doesn't think anyone in Canelo's divisions can beat him?
How about Benavidez, or too basic, although powerful and swarming an opponent with many punches? Bivol? That's a difficult fight.
Maybe Bivol could edge it, but I don't think he would get a decision, unless he dominates Canelo. I don't think either fighter would dominate, but think it's a close fight.
Canelo is beatable, and has been beaten, but lately he's been very sharp. So, an opponent has got to be on his A game to beat him.Comment

What Will your thoughts be if/when Canelo dominates Bivol?
I’m not saying Canelo is unbeatable. Just keep that in mind.Comment

You use the Floyd style for strong, aggressive, come forward fighters like GGG, not Lara. Canelo couldn't outslick him.Comment

But yeah you are probably right Bivol will probably go on the back foot and throw zero punches with intent lol.Comment

Sadly that probably will happen but idk, this is starting to feel like an upset to me, its reminding me of AJ vs Usyk where a clearly very competitive fight was being seen as routine, complete with the next fight lined up.

I’ve always said I don’t think we’ve seen the best of him yet because he has a style that will just cruise if that’s all he needs to do. For that reason, I think people are underestimating him, they’re looking at the fights where he hasn’t gone through any gears and thinking that’s his peak performance. Those are the same kind of people saying AJ was going to smash Usyk because Usyk had competitive moments with Chisora.
The only problem with that is you can somewhat get into that kind of coasting mentality when that’s all you’ve done for a while, but if any fight is going to snap you out of that, it should be v Canelo
I think it’ll be a good fight, could be a 7-5 either way kind of thing but Bivol isn’t getting a decision unless he sweeps every round easily. Canelo v GGG is a done deal, so even if Bivol seems to win 8 or 9 rounds (which is possible), he isn’t getting it.Comment
