Shakur's adjustment and Valdez's failure to adjust

Stevenson was throwing the straight left to the body and Valdez was blocking it quite well by bringing his left forearm across his torso. So what did Stevenson do when his money punch was taken away from him? He posted on Valdez's left hand with his right hand so he couldn't bring his left hand low and that's how he was hitting Valdez to the body with the left every single time.

Valdez could've done two things but he didn't do anything. First, in a southpaw vs orthodox match up, if one of the fighters posts with his lead hand you can hook to his elbow and **** his arm up for the night by hyper extending his elbow. Valdez was clueless though. Valdez could've parried the straight left to the body with his right elbow but he didn't do that either. He could've pivoted to his left to avoid the left hand, nope again. Another technique he could've used is every time Shakur threw that straight left, Valdez could've thrown a right uppercut to Stevenson's body. The angle of the uppercut blocks the straight left hand. Really bad fight and no adjustments from Valdez.

Valdez's ring IQ appeared very low in that fight.

Its very hard to adjust when you are so far behind in every move, when you're fighting high energy and the other guy is cruising and is also bigger and stronger than you are, no amount of adjustment was going to change anything Valdez was just too far out of it.

I agree and disagree. Valdez didn't even do the basics. Either he had a horrible plan or he choked. He's always been deficient in some areas and Shakur completely exposed him. I think we or I overrated Oscar based on his performance against Berchelt. For all I know Berchelt could've been already shot when Valdez took care of him. I thought Conceicao whooped him 8-4 and Shakur beat him easy 10-2.

I hate that Oscar couldn't keep his balance all night. It was a little embarrassing. Sure you can hit air but don't over extend so much that you fall over.. He did this all night.

Also he wasn't vicious at all. When Oscar pulled Shakur arm and Shakur opened both his arms ans shrugged Valdez should have instantaneously gone for the kill and land a bomb on Shakur. There were a few instances where he could have done this and it all would have been perfectly legal. Also, Oscar should have fought dirty to match Shakur. Shakur was probing and throwing low blows all night. Fk that, you have a family to take care of, you need to have killer instincts and do what you need to do to get the job done.
