it would elevate him to p4p consideration if he faces the winner of mayweather/marquez and wins without a doubt, he'll be #1, yet #1 p4p? He needs to atleast fight in a few more divisions p4p requires a few divisions fights/belts and it seems he's comfortable as a welter..

Here's the rub: From a factual standpoint, it's only four. There was no title on the line when Pacquiao stopped Marco Antonio Barrera in the 11th round in a featherweight fight in 2003. Barrera may have been considered the people's champion, but he did not hold a sanctioned major world title at that time.

There also was no legitimate title on the line when Pacquiao knocked out Ricky Hatton in the second round in a junior welterweight fight in May. To be clear, the four governing bodies considered major by pretty much everyone are the WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO.

The title on the line for Pacquiao-Hatton was Hatton's IBO belt. Again, some could argue that Hatton was considered the top guy at that weight, but he did not hold a major belt. The IBO is a fringe organization.
A "Hater" couldn`t be exposed better... After these paragraphs i ended reading...

IBO , WBA , WBC - it is all about letters... To me all of these bodies have no authority left...

lol! So to be a p4p listed fighter u have to have titles at different divisions as a requieremnt?? The p4p list is a mythical list to present which fighter would be better if they both weight the same... Lol, what about heavyweights?

In that case, Joe Calzaghe was also P4P #1... for longer than Mayweather.

              Calzaghe pound4pound very funny!!

You got to give credit to calzaghe for being pound4pound at fighting bums all his career! Until he tried getting some respect by fighting two 40year old legends!

                Tags Pacquiao

It did seem like Pacquiao's eyes were not quite on Hatton when he knocked him out... uncanny. like he has eyes on the side of his head.
You're absolutely right, Robert! One of a few who notices it! That's why opponents never see his punches coming, not because of speed as many claim but because they come unexpectedly. Pacman sizes up his foe by glancing at his foot or waist or position and this throws off his foes when they get hit because Pac was looking elsewhere. It's his unorthodox style that many cannot time. He gets set to throw a right and he lets go of a left. THAT's what many are referring to as SPEED. It's not really fast but it came unexpectedly. Manny knows where the head of the opponent is even if he appears to be not looking.
some could argue that Hatton was considered the top guy at that weight, but he did not hold a major belt. The IBO is a fringe organization.
It's better to fight the guy at the top without a belt than to fight the guy at the bottom with a belt. That's what Pac has been doing all along.

Calzaghe beats two old guys and he is p4p and "future hall of famer"....Pacman beats two has beens and he is p4p and "future hall of famer" ................So Mayweathers fustrations are completely valid.

Paul Williams should be ranked over Cotto if he beats Pavlik and Cotto beats Pacquiao. But we know that won't happen because Cotto will automatically shoot up to the top three if he beats Manny.
