Yet he plans to cherrypick a 40yr old man and John “Gorilla” Ryder if he somehow wins vs Bivol.

I guess you can give an honorary mention to Shawn Porter and Derevyanchenko, but they lost every time they tried so...JuniorTorres720 likes this.

He doesn’t have to engage in extreme weight drain like pre-2017, so it probably helps.

The guys who beat Canelo are speedy boxers. The sluggers will continue to fall--maybe both champs at 175. They can be hit and Canelo can hit. Bivol is a boxer but he gets hit. Canelo has good defense and can take a good punch. It remains to be seen who will beat him. Mayweather you coming back? ha ha

If Joe Smith upsets bieterbiev Canelo will make a fight with him in December 2022 to unify.
If Bieterbiev wins as expected, Canelo fights Charlo and Benavidez in May & September 2023 then unifies with Bieterbiev December 2023 or May 2024, depending on how rough the Sept fight is.Last edited by The Big Dunn; 04-25-2022, 08:34 AM.Damn Wicked likes this.

Every athlete has an come up, a peak, and a decline. Like other greats before him it would be dope to see Canelo still competing while on decline and in the twilight of his career. This is when oftentimes we'll see competitive, entertaining bouts because they start coming down and leveling out with other fighters. Canelo has had an impressive career regardless of the criticism and past mistakes. I'm excited to see his future in the sport.Damn Wicked likes this.

If he's seriously looking to unify at 175 then he shouldn't go back to 168 for Golovkin. Unless the weight is already contracted he should insist on a catch-weight at something over 170 - take it or leave golovkin.
