Several bits of UK boxing news…

Was at the after party of the Probellum card last night and got to speak to several fighters, promoters etc.

Usyk-Joshua 2 is likely for July in Saudi Arabia. Callum Smith will be on the undercard in some form of Light Heavyweight eliminator.

Joyce-Parker is done. Should be announced soon for July.

Jack Catterall is likely not getting a title shot next which is disgraceful tbh. If Ramirez opts to go the WBC route he might get the WBO shot but not looking likely.

Spoke to a lot of the MTK fighters, personnel and they obviously can’t say much but it seems Probellum will be kept completely separate, so a lot of MTK fighters will likely become free agents rather than sign with Probellum.

        Nice one

Gutted for Catterall. Nobody is going to choose to fight him and to get in a mandatory position and actually get the fight could easily take another couple of years.

i love Joyce v Parker. These are fights that should happen. If you’re not fighting for a world title, just get in the ring and make great fights that people will be interested in. Boxing needs more of this across all divisions and at all levels. credit to both if it gets gone.

Yeah the WBO have done him dirty man. He should have retained his mandatory position minimum after that robbery.

Sam Jones was saying the fight has been fully agreed so hopefully an announcement is imminent. I think Joyce possibly stops Parker too.

Joyce v Parker is interesting to me. If Parker fights a smart fight and comes in lighter and move, because he can move when he wants and is light, he can cause Joyce problems. The Jennings fight showed Joyce can struggle at times if you move intelligently. Joyce was hurt to the body in that too.

Joyce has slow hands but actually deceptively quick on his feet, so it’s not just moving away from him in straight lines, you need to consistently move using angles and the right time.

Id pick Joyce just because I think he’s a hard man to beat and because I’m not sure how much Parker is truly willing to grit it out when needing to push that extra mile. But I think Joyce can be beaten with a very well executed game plan, if you have the skill set to do it too.

I'm looking forward to seeing Smith at LHW again, I'm feeling really bad for Jack Catterall he should be an undisputed champion right now. And Joyce Parker sounds a decent interesting fight.

This MTK, Kinahan Probellum business really is a bit of a mess up isn't it.

              Thanks for the info.

Yeah man, I’m not sure Parker really wants it anymore, ever since he got the AJ payday he’s not been the same fighter IMO. I think Joyce gets him late.

I just hope this MTK mess doesn’t leave fighters on the shelf and/or without backing. Hopefully these guys can find a new home in Matchroom, Queensberry or Boxxer if they aren’t going to be able to transition over to Probellum.

Yeah, although he did show a bit of spite in his last fight. Maybe being around the Fury team and Andy Lee is helping.

Even then I’m still unsure, Parker seems like too much of a Fury fanboy. It’s one thing being friends but if I was an ex world champ, I’d be seeing him as a contemporary rather than a superior. walking around his entourage wearing a Fury tracksuit. I don’t know, maybe I’m reading too much into that and they’re just mates.

Just makes me wonder how much Parker really believes he can be top level though.

Still, I like the fight. If we get a rejuvenated looking Parker again coming with a good game plan, it’ll be a good one.
