Why is it ok for "superstars" to not fight mandatory opponents?

I was thinking about SSM and how he is trying to get that Big mega fight, but I was also think about how he is the current WBA ww champion. I was wondering why he and other "mainstream" fighters get a pass when it comes to not defending against mandatory opponents? I know that he was going to fight Clottey or still may fight Berto but isn't there some obscure opponent ranked by the WBA waiting in line for a shot? Even though Shane will most likely blow out whatever mandatory opponent they put him in with and Clottey or Berto would be a much more competitive fight, its not fair and thus not sporting. Why should Clottey for ex. who is off a loss be it a close one get to jump in line over someone who was waiting for his chance? I understand that it is a business, but it is a sport first and we are forgetting the mantra of competition and just due when we accept boxing as some corporation or cartel.
I am just using SSM as an artificial example, and could use anyone of the boxing "stars" to illustrate the same point or or an unknown champion to convey a double standard.
Take Chad Dawson for example, he is a lesser known champion but since he is not a star yet if he didn't want to fight his mandatory because he "wasn't marketable" and didn't bring money then he would be ducking, but its perfectly fine for fighters of notoriety to do the same thing and be inactive for periods of a year or longer. My point is fair comp and fighters getting their shots > marketability and revenue. I don't care what fighters make or who does what numbers, just want to see good fights and unknown fighters get their chances and not be held back by divas in the boxing world. Any thoughts, opinions?

I agree it's all about mega fights which take months of promotion, advertising and build up guy's just don't stay busy anymore in boxing james toney seems to be the last of the boxers who did that.

If they got alphabet belts they still have to in order to not be stripped. They may simply be more inclined to pay mandos step aside $ to get em to go away and leave em to bigger fights. And in the WBA's case, they'll make a super champ to open up a regular title if star power gets in the way of collectin sanctioning fees for mandatories.

What happens then when all of the big stars retire around the same time, like what is about to happen soon at the wwish weight classes? No marketable stars because no one else got a chance to shine.

I got a pic with Daisy Marie a few years back at the AVNs. She let all the fans feel her ass and stomach. That was cool unlike some of the other girls there.

The main reason it's excused is that usually when the superstars decline to fight mandatories, they instead fight someone else that the boxing public would rather see them fight.

                For example:

Floyd Mayweather= doesn't fight IBF mandatory Mark Suarez, instead fights WBC/Ring/lineal champ Carlos Baldomir.

Oscar De La Hoya= Roman Karmazin was his mandatory, I think Karmazin was paid step-aside money, and De La Hoya instead fought Fernando Vargas.

In these situations, seriously, how many people would really have rather watched the mandatory defenses rather than the ones that took place?

If it were the other way around, and the fought the mandatory defenses when the other fights appeared on the table and everyone wanted to see them, they'd get more criticism.

Daisy Marie is mos def one of my favorites to wank to and I would never wash my hand again if I got to grab that ass.
But aren't the fans wishes being put above what obscure fighters actually deserve? Is this being done in excess more recently? I mean I understand a mega fight now and again but it seems like they are trying to make everyone fight with the stars a mega fight. This is good for fans, but there are fighters who deserve their shots and have to wait until all this p4p mess is sorted out or until enough fighters retire.
