Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez will be among familiar faces at a venue where he has headlined more than any boxer. The pound-for-pound king and four-division champ is set for his quest to become a two-time light heavyweight title claimant as he next faces WBA titlist Dmitry Bivol. Locally based referee Russell Mora has been assigned to officiate the scheduled 12-round DAZN Pay-Per-View main event from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, where Alvarez will appear for the sixth time since the arena opened its doors in 2016.

Mora is generally an outstanding referee.
officiating a boxing match is hands down by a mile the hardest sport. He obviously ruined Mares vs Akbeko (prob misspelled that) and people act like that’s him every night...yes that night was the single most disgusting, absurdly refereed boxing match in history but he hadn’t done something like that before that fight nor after.

This is the fight of the year for me. I'm a fan of both guys but I was raised believing boxing was a mix of Bivol's style and Floyd Patterson's style. I dig Canelo's style, too. This will be awesome!

I always wondered why they don’t bring out new judges a little more often. These 3 have scored dozens of Canelo fights, one would think that over time you’d start to develop some unconscious biases at some point.

And I’m not blaming Canelo I know it’s the commission that appoints these guys. Just seems like a little ridiculous that there’s this same pool or like 6 or 7 judges that always get the call.
