Golden Boy returned to its Coachella Valley home at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino with an exciting night of boxing to a sold-out boisterous crowd. The main event of the night featured an eventful 10-round lightweight fight between Palmdale's Joel Diaz, Jr. (26-2, 22 KOs) and San Diego's Mercito "No Mercy" Gesta (33-3-3, 17 KOs).

I remember a number of years back when Gesta was the up and coming potentially new superstar on Top Rank.

He didn't become that big star they hoped then, but I hope he wins a world title if he gets another shot.

Gesta is one of those physically gifted boxers blessed with quickness, yet he is inconsistent in his performances, i remember when top rank signed him, his dights were exciting he was explosive and fast throwing combos and then when he had a title shot he just froze posing in the middle of the ring, and bob arum kept hyping this giy up in 2012 as the future of Philippines boxing only to drop him from his contract shortly after that embarrassing fight

yeah Arum kept bringing Gesta up everywhere he even invited Gesta to his home in Beverly hills, i still remember the news paper article about Gesta, it was the man to watch on the pacquiao vs marquez undercard, Arum was hyping him hard telling everyone this kid is the future. Then Gesta fights Vazquez and people fell asleep, it was one of the worst performances ive ever seen from a hyped up fighter, Gesta didnt even try, all his coach said was Vazquez ran and should have been DQed for not engaging lol and after that Arum was furious and voided his contract.
