Gatti - PBF out, Gatti - Cotto?

Well, now that PBF is officially out of the picture, why can't Cotto fight Gatti on the 11th of June? Cotto is supposed to fight on the 18th, so moving up one week isn't bad. I read in a PR newspaper that if Gatti gives them the opportunity they will take it (the Cotto team, that is. Evangelista Cotto, his trainer, was quoted as saying so). I'd really love to see this fight. Cotto fought well past the 4th round against Chop, once he settled down. I think that if Falu didn't stop the fight (and it was a terrible stoppage) that Cotto would've finished him in another round and a half.

Bring on Cotto - Gatti as a PPV!

It's a risky fight for Cotto. If Gatti lands like Corley did, Cotto is KO'd. This is a fight that should happen in 2007 if Gatti's still active, but not now.

Well, Corley did get some right hands in but he is also a southpaw and Miguel was very much not himself in the first three rounds. Also, that shot that made Miguel do the bobble-head was right on the ear. That really messes anyone up and doesn't mean you don't have a chin just that you lose your balance and orientation. It could happen to anyone.

I see Cotto fighting a cautious fight and winning by late round stoppage.

He was hurt for a long time. If Corley put some hard punches together, he would have been gone..

Yup, you are right. Coreley didn't really pounce on Miguel as Miguel pounced on Chop in the fifth round. If Chop had that killer instinct then Miguel might've been put to sleep or TKO'd.

However, I still contend that an ear shot is what hurt him and we all know that those will mess ANYONE up.

It'd definitely be a crowd pleaser. I just hope for Cotto's sake that he NEVER fights anyone else like he did Corley.

If he were to fight Gatti with that slower, more methodical, break you down approach, he'd stop Gatti inside of 8 due to body punishment.

Corley has more tricks than does Gatti...he's a tricky southpaw and Cotto would eat up Gatti and his straight-forward approach.

All of this being said, if Gatti seriously hurt Cotto, we might see Miguels first loss because he'd (Gatti) close the show much more efficiently than did Corley.

Cotto is a good fighter but isn't ready for Gatti, Corley hit cotto way to much for my liking if corley had a bigger punch it would have been lights out for Cotto.

Corley has a big punch but not big enough for Cotto. Cotto would take Gatti (IMHO), who is just a paper champ.
