Comments Thread For: Hearn Pours Water Over Mayer vs. Taylor-Serrano Winner, Says She Needs to Unify with Baumgardner

Promoter Eddie Hearn doesn't want Mikaela Mayer to put the cart before the horse. The Matchroom Boxing head believes IBF/WBO 130-pound titlist Mayer must focus on trying to unify her own division before she can think about moving up to challenge the winner of the 135-pound undisputed championship bout between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano.

Mayer's a great fighter IMO. I'll be behind her all the way if she fights the Taylor-Serrano winner.

    WAR Mayer!!!

Didn't Baumgardner already say she has a mandatory next and then a unification with the WBA champion Choi after that?

Is Mayer supposed to just wait for Baumgardner to have two more fights?

Mikaela Mayer vs. Alycia Baumgardner is the logical step for both 130 pound champions, Mayer can continue unifying the Superfeather-Weight Class; a IBF-WBC-WBO unification also affords the winner a big-showdown with the WBA champ 'Defector Girl Boxer' Hyun Mi Choi.

But look, do the champs want to see the Belgium Wild-Cat Delfine Persoon tho? I dont think so.

        Superfeather-weight is really live.

Sean Nam (who wrote this article) wrote "Hearn said the “bad blood” between Taylor and Baumgardner makes for an ideal promotion...", but it should have said "Mayer and Baumgardner."

Anyway, as for Mayer fighting the winner of Taylor vs Serrano, unless one of them gets completely destroyed they'll run it back at least once more. So, that should give Mayer time to go for unified or undisputed. Then again, I'm of the mind that Serrano just might destroy Taylor. Lastly, Mayer also indicated she might not be able to keep making 130. Time will tell.

            This is performative for Hearn.

Baumgardner has already stated that her next two fights are a mandatory and then a unification with Choi.

Hearn should be ashamed to make that fight of Baumgartner's. It is a complete set- up, against an opponent who has 2/3rds as many losses as she has wins, and only ONE KO. It's a disgrace.

But Hearn never has any shame and has the gall of the devil. He gives promoters a worse reputation than they already have.
