couldn't agree more if Floyd was Mexican or even Phillipino he'd be loved by the ppl.....
Black athletes are always targeted and hated on in especially in America/Mexico the ppl there cannot help themselves.....with their Racism
Things are a little better in the UK however which is the reason why Floyd got a much better reception there...Comment

could you guys share a link to the video?
thing here is that floyd does have a point, yet he's wrong. if he was white and from another country (perfect example: ricky hatton), he'd be overhyped. like ricky was before he came overseas to fight american fighters.
however, that'd happen if he wouldn't open his mouth like he does. that's why you don't see people obsessed with bashing ricky hatton or making a thousand threads about the guy and why he sucks. because all in all, he's a quiet guy outside of the ring and does not make the controversial statements that floyd makes.
fact is, people tend to sympathize with the humble more so than the ****y. people like the humble attitude in a guy who's definitely talented and lets his talent speak for him. people also like their fighters to act like they're normal human beings and like they can connect to them in someway. with floyd, it's like, he puts himself on a pedestal - therefore creating a gap between him (athlete/celebrity - self proclaimed goat - throwing money around like it's nothing) and the people (normal, ordinary working people - who work hard to earn a living).
he puts himself on the spotlight, with unfriendly ways of gaining the attention, and people are forced to react. that's why he gets so much criticism and judgement. that's why he's wrong at the same time. so it all comes down to how you present yourself, and if that way of presenting yourself will either please or piss off the public. once you make an enemy, he'll pick you apart and focus on your flaws since you claim to be so great and perfect.Comment

If so it doesn't seem to be any better.Comment

Most of the people in the UK think of Mayweather as the best boxer in the world, but that is because most people in the UK don't know a thing about boxing. These were not educated boxing people, these were people who were just happy to see a famous face in a deprived neighbourhood. Damn, if Ricky Hatton visited a city in Austrailia he would probably get the same reception even though most people only know his name, and not his fighting style, record, or achievements in the ring.
Mayweather is not popular in the UK.Comment

Point is...Floyd is being disected by the media and fans becuase he POINTS OUT what he has and mouths off about being great....he GIVES US fuel for the fire. And we as people...eat it up. America in general has become a hub for gossip, negativity and anything else when someone of worth (wealthy, athletes, celebrities etc....) are caught doing something/ saying something they shouldn't have been doing in the 1st place.
There was something that was great in 24/7...when he went to the kids and talked to them about "not letting anything get in their way to achieve their golas in life and to always work hard".....that's something that any person that anyone looks up to should be saying...but do not "two face them" and act like a ignorant N**** or try to play one whenever the cameras are on you. All that does is show the kids of tomorrow that "yes...you too can be come rich by acting like this...even if you really aren't."Comment

Why doesn't Lebron, Tiger, Kobe, Venus, Serena, Shaq or any other major black professional athlete get any flack when they "spit on the sidewalk"? Maybe its becuase they don't draw so much attention to themselves....run their mouths....if Floyd was so loved over across the pond....which I highly doubt....maybe he should take his riches over there.
Kinda ignorant of Floyd to drop "n-bombs" during a interview...epsecially with ESPN...but hey....if it walks like a duck...talks like a duck....you know the rest.
Floyd was wrong for calling Steward an uncle tom, but that has nothing to do with Floyd thinking that Steward isn't black enough. Where the hell did you get that ****!? He's calling him that (in this context) because he probably feels that Steward has no backbone and is succumbing to pressure from bigger heads at HBO. I DO NOT AGREE, but that's probably where's he's coming from. His lash out against the commentators is probably more so attributable to the fact that Steward and Merchant usually root against him and down play his achievements. If you take note, Jim Lampley, is never in Floyd's crosshair nor is Max Kellerman when he lashes out.
Sidenote: I think Jim Lampley is the least bias of all the HBO commentators
Anyway he said Merchant doesn't know anything about boxing because that's probably the most insulting thing you can tell a guy who's been commentating the sport and following the sport for so many years. He called Steward an Uncle Tom, because as one black man to another, that's probably one of the most derogatory things he could say.
As far as him saying ******... how is that ignorant? He's trying to sound offensive so he can allude to his point of how ugly he feels he's being treated.
It's not like he was on ESPN saying, "wassup my ni99as... *** that ni99a rick ross" or something like that. That would be different.
For the record, Floyd brings this on himself. He plays the bad guy role too often and too well. People dislike him so they discredit him... (i.e.: the majority of NSB members O_O) ergo the huge chip he's always carrying on his shoulder. It's like a reverberating process. He's very competitive and he wants to be considered the best. So when he's not considered the best he throws a tantrum THEN he trains hard to prove he's the best. For the most part, that's why he cries after he's had a great performance against a fighter he wasn't expected to beat. It's all his frustrations, stress, anger and all these other emotions that he's been bottling up capped with Joy because he just proved the critics wrong and now he can release it... cause he "told you so".
He really just wants to be accepted but he's goes about the wrong way trying to get that acceptance.Comment
