Comments Thread For: Warren On Fury-Whyte Undercard Backlash: 'We Only Have a Certain Amount of Money To Play With'

Death, taxes...and boxing promoters trying to defend their shoddily-perceived undercards. Veteran British fight impresario Frank Warren recently found himself in the latter position after the undercard to the Tyson Fury vs. Dillian Whyte heavyweight title bout (for Fury's WBC belt) was unveiled to the public. Fury-Whyte is set to take place April 23 at Wembley Stadium in London.

lol boxing. giving fury a kings ransom but trash undercard. That is why boxing cant compete with the ufc anymore. they only have 2-3 big fights a year and nothing else. UFC packs its cards with quality fights.

        Appreciate the honesty.

Boxing needs to find a way to get back to having quality fights on the Undercard of major fights.

The problem is they are using what should be undercard fights to head smaller shows just to fill TV space.

Wasnt as many channels when I was growing up so you had to make great cards. Purses weren’t as massive either.

Spence vs. Ugas has a very nice undercard, and so does Castano vs. Charlo II.

When the main event fighters are being paid up to $11m and $34m respectively it's a wonder there's a undercard at all. Stop slagging a great British world heavyweight title fight , it's bad enough having one daft prat thinking for the possibility of earning $11m he's being ripped off. Get a grip as this all stems from Eddie 'it's my ball ' Hearn's inability to secure yet another top national world title fight.

Frank had to beg borrow and steal to put this fight on, this may well be his last hurrah, if it doesn't do amazing numbers he's in deep trouble and a man can only come back from crippling debts and bankruptcy so many times.

I just hope fury gets paid.

Was it suppose to be a decent card with that exposed Euro-Bum Anthony Yarde, and 'Big-Baby' Jared Anderson crushing some can in the first place? All UK undercards a garbage, that's what they are use to.

In truth you can make these trashy fans happy by putting in some local bums that have a fan friendly style, like : Gary O'Sullivan, Liam Smith, Felix Cash, Conor Benn, Kell Brook, Josh Kelly etc. Just sht. So please stop.

No doubt. Chavez, Canelo used to fight on semi main events. Roy/bhop 1 was a semi main as well.

We need to get back to that, especially when it’s a major hwt title fight.

It probably wont effect PPV buys that much as long as the main event actually happens. But if Whyte pulls out at the last minute this is going to be brutal.
