If people are willing to pay so much money for it why not.

Not my type of fights and something I don't pay for but many others do.

There’s not 1 current big name fighter out that’s consistently making the best fights available. Blame yourselves fan boys.
no fighter in history has only fought the best opponent all through his career - mandatories, warmups after a loss etc.

I’m aware of that which is why I used the word consistently. Nobody is doing it with any sort of consistency. There’s a reason why it’s been 4 years since the last big selling Ppv fight and outside of that, most Ppv fights aren’t even getting near half a mil. They’re not making meaningful fights with any sort of consistency and fans get bored.

Nobody has to buy his exhibitions. I don't. If people want to see him, I don't have a problem with it. If you really wanted to see him at his peak, tho, just watch his old fights.

Exactly and they want more money without earning that paycheck first nowadays. Floyd's one of the last recent throwback fighters that consistently fought other champs. I miss seeing him in action and will continue to watch any iteration of the man exhibition or not. Underneath all the bravado is a true skill and will warrior who's spent a lifetime honing his assets for the craft. A boxing connoisseur.

Kind of agree with you but the issue is more with the sport. The economics of the sport suck in that prize money is not spread out enough over all the fighters. Fury, as good as he is, definitely doesn't deserve 30 million and Whyte has done little to deserve 8 million.
If other fighters look at Lubin and look at what he got paid compared to the damage he took (brain degradation) and they figure that if they can just take the easier route to a belt and then milk the belt - that is good business sense on their part but leavs hardcore fans wanting and for casual fans there is no 'head of steam built up' where they can get invested in a fighter as a fan and then follow his progress. What we need is more Fundora-Lubin style matchups but until they get paid a bit more and titleholders get paid less then we wont get those fights on the consistent basis you mention.
Shout out to boxers who have challenged themselves the last 5 years - Canelo, Joe Smith Jr, Lomachenko, Usyk, most of 154 division, Chocolatito, Rosado, Whyte (despite what I said above) , Shaun Porter and Kell Brook (Golovkin, Crawford and Spence is a murderer's row).

Only way this ever backfires on him is if he gets dropped or knocked out cold.

Fine analysis. Prize fighting is a zero sum game. There’s a limited pool of investment for purses, as well as a limited amount fans can spend to watch.

I’m not angry at Mayweather—amused at his racket is more like it. Floyd can do whatever he wants and fans can buy whatever PPV they desire. But nobody should be under any illusions.

When all that money ends up in one place, Floyd is the winner and boxing is the loser.
