The longest amount of rounds in a boxing match.

I recently read in an issue of Boxing Digest, that Heavyweight Champion Paddy Ryan took 87 rounds to wear out the then reigning champion Joe Goss. 87 ROUNDS...that's 261 minutes of boxing, bareknuckle by the way, which amount to about 4 and a half hours of combat. Does anyone know of any other boxing match having lasted that long, or longer, and what are the names of these boxers. I find it amazing that they could go that long, bareknuckled, without damaging each other for life. Any new input would be greatly appreciated.

    My google skills:

The longest boxing match (with gloves) in history was 110 rounds long.

It began around 9 p.m. on April 6, 1893 and ended the next day well after 4 a.m. Andy Bowen and Jack Burke fought for seven hours and 19 minutes in New Orleans, La. before the match was eventually deemed "no contest" when the fighters were too exhausted to continue. That decision was later changed to a "draw."

Andy Bowen vs Jack Burke was the longest boxing match ever held I believe. Lasting 110 3 minute rounds, which means they fought for about 7 hours, it ended in a no contest.

Hola mello, quelaque hermanito? I read it in the January 2009 issue of Boxing Digest. It has a story on the old time fighters that went bareknucke, and that one caught my eyes, especially because it was bareknuckle..no gloves, no cut men, etc. Eso esta cabron. lololl

Now in that time, how many punches per round were thrown. I bet no more the 20 average.

That's a good point. I never thought of it that way. Still, i'm sure that the bareknuckle factor had a lot to do with it. If you're gonna get his hard by a padded glove, you definitely are bolder at getting hit...but skin on skin, that's rough. 20 punches might be about right under those circumstances. Thnx Vers
