People, a fighters legacy is not a race where they need to get to the finish line. It isn't once they finally get to THIS point.. NOW they have a legacy.
EVERY FIGHTER, has a legacy. And every legacy is judged on what they have done in their careers.
The reason for this thread is because I keep hearing bull**** like:
"If Manny beats Floyd... he will cement his legacy"
This is a bull**** concept... Manny ALREADY HAS a legacy, beating Floyd simply adds on to it... beating Cotto, simply adds on to it..
"Floyds legacy is already sealed"
What does this mean? Floyds legacy isn't sealed UNTIL he retires FOR GOOD... everything he does will simply add on to his legacy, or take away from it...
There is no set point where a fighter has a legacy, or does not have a legacy... every fighter has a legacy...
The greatness of their legacy is what needs to be taken into consideration.
Tocker Pudwill, and Joe Calzaghe... both have legacys... but obviously they are not equal.
