Breaking: Canelo Alvarez rejected Eddie Hearn’s offer of putting a 171lb catchweight and rehydration clause vs Dmitry Bivol: “Canelo and Eddy said NO catchweight and rehydration clause!”

Canelo could’ve had a catchweight real easy. Bivol would’ve accepted anything 171-lbs+,” said Eddie Hearn to the DAZN Boxing Show.

“Canelo and Eddy [Reynoso] said, ‘No catchweight. If this is for the 175-lb world title, that’s the way it’s going to be.’ And rehydration clause doesn’t exist,” said Hearn.

It seems Canelo is now scared of the backlash he will receive from fans if he handicapped Bivol and put a rehydration clause like what he did to Jacobs, Fielding and Kovalev, and fighting Amir Khan on a 155 catchweight and Chavez Jr. on a 164 catchweight.

Shame he couldn't do this in 2016 when he dropped the WBC 155 pound catchweight title to avoid the tail end of Golovkin's peak
