Professional boxing is returning to Cuba.

El boxeo profesional fue suspendido en Cuba en 1962 y ahora regresa tras cerrarse un acuerdo con Golden Ring Promotions.

Wow, I never saw this coming. Thoughts?

So they’re still gonna have to defect? Will the Cuban government allow them to turn pro overseas with a foreign promoter?

If they're smart, they should. You don't want the Cuban government handling your business

Do you think the Cuban state will still try and prevent them from leaving the country like they do with the amateurs?

Is going to be a source of income for the government, yes they'll be watch, but like always, whoever wants to defect, will do one way or another. By now they know they can have a better life for themselves and family. Younger and hungrier, just like in baseball, kids 18, 19 years old having millions of $$ in bonus, like Vaquero, Céspedes, Colas and a bunch of other kids.
