He was never overrated. He had a very good run, defeating many very good fighters impressively and of course, the great Kostya Tszyu.

But after 2005, he went downhill prematurely because of his unhealthy eating habits, and his big weight gains and losses between fights. He appeared to have lost his punch resistance in the Pacquiao fight.

To extent he is. IMO he was never a Top P4P fighter, but a good, solid Jr. Welterweight, mainly becuase he could bully and get away with brawling tactics at the weight.

IMO he should've never left 140.

Anyone who has beaten the kind of fighters hatton has beat is a great fighter. Forget we are talking about hatton and just look at hattons wins alone.
If you dont want to say he is the greatest fighter ever, you are quite within your right. But you must put your unbiased spectacles on and give him credit for what hes done.

well Mayweather wouldn't come down to 140, and the Pac fight was at 140.

True, but I thought Floyd shouldn't have fought him when he did, but rather, when he was at 140 a few years earlier.

this is also true, why take the naturally smaller man?

in fact we know the answer but Mayweather fans don't like to hear it.
