    David Benavidez will headline just outside his hometown for his next fight. A venue has been secured for the previously announced May 21 interim WBC super middleweight title fight between Phoenix's Benavidez and Montreal's David Lemieux. The Showtime-televised main event will take place at Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona, roughly 30 minutes from Benavidez' Phoenix hometown.

    If Lemieux lands that left hook, we'll see what kind of chin Benavidez has! Good fight as long as it lasts.

        This has to be one of the worst choice of opponent for Lemieux.
        I will predict what will happen ;
        Benavidez will jab him to death, while David will swing like a devil to knock him out.. without ever actually touch him. His arms are way too short for this division and Lemieux never learned how to avoid a jab.

        It will be a butchery!

        Still, maybe David can pull the offset by taking advantage of his limited height to crush Benavidez's liver.. That's the only way I see him potentially win.
        It takes a lot of courage to face Benavidez ;respect to David Lemieux, whatever the result.

          This will be a fun fight, but Benavidez needs to handle him pretty easily if he wants to be mentioned as a credible Canelo opponent. I think this will be the case.

            Very little side to side movement disrupts Lemieux, Benavides already steps around and has to keep his jab going. Plus Benavides is taller and fresher, it will be fun to watch but I am expecting a favorable outcome for David.

              Can only imagine what people would be saying if Canelo was the one fighting Lemieux. Yet these PBC guys tend to get a pass when it comes to garbage fights.

                Exactly who else does he fight? He has called every other guy in and around the division out and it's the most logical fight to enforce a mandatory with Canelo in the future. I'd love to see him fight Charlo or Plant or preferably Canelo but they aren't agreeing to fight him right now so at least he is staying busy with somebody opposite of the ring.

                    How bad has lemiuex looked in his past fights? Really hoping for an upset.
