The end game here is.... Haney wins belts, makes money, then is under obligation to fight Loma as still under contract with Top Rank.

Why wouldnt DAZN just try and offer the winner a contract? I don't get why DAZN is being stingy here.

Team Haney and/or Hearn were pushing for DAZN to get on board with the fight. If DAZN made a sizeable offer, it's possible Haney wouldn't have had to do the fight in Australia, or at the very least, not be locked into Australia for the rematch as well. So they took it down to the wire trying to get DAZN on board.

DAZN didn't bite because they weren't interested in blowing a load of cash on a fight when they don't have either guy under contract.

DAZN wasn't interested in Haney-Kambosis - which is what Dan, Mannix, and anyone who knows what they're talking about has been saying this whole time.
DAZN/Hearn did bid for Lopez-Kambosos and either guy not under DAZN. In fact DAZN did a good job for the Lopez-Kambosos fight... So why not Haney?

Finally, 135 gets an undisputed fighter and it's going to be the guy damn near everyone doesn't want to be. Haney gets to join the ranks of Crawford, Usyk, Taylor, Jermell or Brian and Clenelo (unfortunately)

Because Lopez-Lomachenko did 4.2 million viewers on ESPN/ESP+ in one of the most-watched boxing events in years. Having Lopez on their platform, even only for one fight, would drive subscriptions/interest as well as please existing subscribers, so they didn't hesitate to put big money down on that one.

Hearn did his best to get DAZN to make a significant offer, but it did happened.
