Comments Thread For: Elvis Rodriguez Drops Velasco Three Times, Stops Him in Seventh

MINNEAPOLIS - Elvis Rodriguez has rediscovered his swagger. The hard-hitting Dominican southpaw was dominant in a seventh-round knockout of Argentina's Juan Jose Velasco. Rodriguez scored three knockdowns in the fateful round, the last of which prompted a stoppage at 2:49 of round seven in their Showtime-televised opener Saturday evening at The Armory in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

A few more lengthy fights and Elvis will raise some hell in the 140 division! He looks pretty good to only be 15 fights in.

I was surprised Top Rank dropped him so quickly after one loss...hopefully they were wrong, I hope Elvis does well...he has a nice personality and is exciting to watch.

I'd like to see him fight Shojahon Ergashev, Batyr Akhmedov, or Brandun Lee! IBF, DO YOUR JOB! MATIAS VS. PONCE!

I like this kid but I think he needs a different trainer. No offense to Freddie but his style & Freddie’s don’t seem to mesh well & Freddie doesn’t offer the best corner advice anymore when things go south

I noticed something last night that I've never seen in almost 50 years of watching fights. Velascos corner never once offered instructions, encouragement, or anything. They didn't talk to their fighter at all. I find that really, really, strange. Am I tripping or did anyone else notice that ? I wonder what their deal was.
