Comments Thread For: Berchelt: Once The Valdez Fight Started, I Didn't Feel Like Myself; Secondary Effects From COVID

By Keith Idec - Miguel Berchelt realized very early in his ill-fated fight with Oscar Valdez that the biggest bout of his career simply would not go his way. The former WBC super featherweight champion claims that the lingering effects from COVID-19, which caused

Miguel Berchelt is one of my favorite fighters. I was kinda crushed to see him get stretched like that. The way he was fighting in that that match didn’t make sense to me. The desperate unmitigated aggression just didn’t seem like the Berchelt that I learned to love against Vasquez. He actually fought more like the same Vasquez that he defeated against Valdez. Him being compromised makes sense to me. I believe him.

TMT is probably just a keyboard warrior all day typing like he's tough.

I don't believe Miguel Berchelt is giving excuse. I would never wish on my worst enemies anything bad and yet alone COVID. You feel depleted of all your strength, brain fog and walking around a zombie when COVID hits you.

I'm not even Mexican but know that Mexicans are true warriors in the sport of boxing. So TMT recognize yourself first before claiming a boxer is full of excuses. COVID is no joke and thought it was before.

Lots of times they are real, doesn't mean the loser wins but it can be the truth and their performance was lowered, fans need to sit on fence sometimes unless they got inside info.

He didn't fight like he usually does. When I had Covid that shortness of breath and foggy mind does linger for weeks.

I’ve liked Berchelt over the years but he is nearing the end of his career.

Ive always suspected that after effects of Covid had something to do with his poor performance. I kind of believe him.

Berchelt has some good abilities but Valdez is just better. I think Vargas in his better days would have beaten him too.

I had a Covid like reaction to the 2nd Vax that lasted 16 weeks so Im sure full Covid could mess you up for a while. And I wont be getting a 3rd dose that's for sure I sooner take my chances with the milder Covid that's dominating now.
