A man may worship as he sees fit, and if a guy is wearing "magic" amulets before a fight, it's the equivalent of another wearing a cross on a chain, or an "escapulario" (christian saint amulet) or any other belief based artifact to give them what they call "blessed protection".

Many boxer pray in the ring before and after their fights, and it's their constitutional right to do so. Hope that answers you somewhat.
