After completing hours and hours watching all Cotto and Pacquiao fights as I could get, I have arrived to this conclution.

Pacquiao will get his job done on Cotto by 6 or 7 rounds. Cotto lasted to rd 11 and and 12 with Margarito and Clottey respectively because they both started the damage late, around the middle of the fight.

That wont be the case with the Pacman because the punching volume, pressition and accuracy will start right at the bell and will never stop. By the middle round Cotto face will look like the end rounds of his previous fights and tireness will show up also prematurely.

Under those circustances, if you are someone that really has followed not just boxing but Manny Pacquiao then you should know the rest of the story.

What's going to happen if Cotto lands on Pacquiao. Cotto has always managed to punch his opponents. With Clottey, it wasn't effective b/c Clottey's size and the size of his forearms. With Margarito, Margs' chin was able to hold out long enough for his own punches(concrete or not) to take effect. Do you think Pacquiao will be able to dodge and/or block every punch?

The problem with that theory is Pacquiao is not going to sit there and slug it out with Cotto, or he gets murked. Even if he goes in and out, Cotto's jab is gonna be there to throw his rhythm off. I mean, look at the jabs he landed on Mosley and even on Clottey which brought him down (...a JAB). Cotto's ring generalship and overall consistency with his punches are going to disrupt Pac's set.

What people are looking at is Pac's KO's of Oscar and Hatton and looking at Cotto's performance against Clottey. But again...STYLES MAKE FIGHTS. I think Pacquiao will have his moments, but throughout the course of the fight Cotto's going to land bombs that's going to make Manny think twice about moving in on Cotto, which is going to be Cotto's moment to take Pac to the limit.

I'm tellin you, like my man RL said...it's BHop vs Trinidad all over again (not meaning style wise). Everyone is riding high on Pacquiao vs Mayweather (i.e. Roy Jones vs Tito that was supposed to happen in '02) before this fight actually happens...people are gonna be in for a rude awakening.

^ i would suggest stop thinking beyond what's there. looking at cottos recent fights no real body punching was done. Pac hasn't been hurt by a body punch in how long? though it may be brutal it still isnt' an IT factor.

If Cotto just had better stamina i'd give him a good shot at beating Manny

but he always gets tired and begins to back peddle in his fights this will utimately be his downfall he simply just cannot afford to get tierd against a guy like Pac.....

Cotto also has better balance then pacquiao that lasT marquez fight says it all. Cotto has a better and harder jab then marquez. And look at the problems pac had with him. Watch the second fight and imagine its cotto landing those blows. Plus manny cant fight going backwards trust me.

what fights did you watch?

i think for cotto you gotta watch the mosley, judah, and corley fights to see how cotto handles speed and southpaws... then watch the margo and clottey fights for how cotto's style looks recently... I'd even throw in the jennings fight because cotto had to deal with jenning's mobility until he landed the KO punch.
