James DeGale Pays Tribute To Darren Sutherland

James DeGale has paid tribute to his friend and rival Darren Sutherland. The undefeated Irish prospect was found hanged at his home yesterday. DeGale beat Sutherland en route to his Olympic gold medal in China last year. There had been talk that the pair might meet again in the professional ranks. [details]

It was clear they had a lot of respect for each other. Would have been a good fight.

Good of DeGale to come out and say some words.

DeGale - Sutherland was on the cards at some point down the road -Maybe a world title fight?

        We'll never know now unfortunately.

        RIP Daz

Degale - Sutherland could have been one of those famous rivalries. Degale is a bit mouthy, Sutherland more respectful, so there's a clash of personalities right there. And both had a amateur history.

It's a shame, they could have had a Eubank - Benn type rivalry.
