I based my opinion on Factual events you can easily search up.

Your opinion that " Russia is killing innocent civilians " is generally vague.

I haven't read / heard reports of civilians being purposely targeted.
If they were I'd imagine the international community would be condemning Russia for War crimes. Which would then give NATO a excuse to step in.

In every country you have some people who want to do one thing and others who want to do something else; for example, I live in the UK and we have had Brexit. The President of the Ukraine prior to the Revolution of dignity in 2014 was Viktor Yanukovych - he was a corrupt Russia sympathiser who declined to move the Ukraine closer to the EU in trade, against the wishes of the vast majority of Ukraininan citizens. People had voted to elect him previously largely due to propaganda and unhappiness with the incumbent government of the time (yes, people will vote for a change of government simply because they dont like the existing government, rather than having a particular affinity for any incoming politicians - see Trump). Once the Ukrainians recognised this - that he had decived them and was trying to move the country towards Russian influence - the whole country protested and the Ukrainian Parliament voted him out. Then ***** justified the annexation of Crimea on the basis that he had to "free" the Russians living there.

We had about a million French people living in the UK (mostly London) prior to Brexit. After the vote we had some of the biggest protests ever seen in this country. Imagine if after the Brexit vote, the French has said they have to then annex London to rescue all the French people living there? This is the equivalent of what ***** did.

More broadly, ***** has used the same propaganda/military tactics vs. civilians many times in Grozny, Aleppo, etc. Its utter b0ll0cks to suggest that he is doing this for Russia's protection - he has 6000 fkin nukes for gods sake. He sees Russia's geopolitical importance declining and is aware that Ukraine is strategically important, not just in its geographical position for the rest of the ex soviet satellite states, but also because of its agricultural and manufactuing capacity. He is also taking the opportunity to strike when he knows Europe is dependent on Russia energy, particuarly gas given its environmental ambitions - and that any cut off will cause a severe living standards squeeze at a time when inflation is already accelerating sharply. For this reason, he underestimated the West's response to this crisis and is now backed into a difficult spot. He cant afford to be seen to lose or it might cause him to lose power, so we will see even more destructive criminal behaviour.

***** is a jaded product and supporter of the old Russian Empire, surrounded by similarly minded yes men. This ha sbecome even worse since COVID because he has isolated himself from the population due to a huge fear of infection - he is a health freak who doesnt drink or smoke at all. He runs a corrupt country where his mates siphon off all the wealth - you cannot argue with this once you see these legions of super rich Russians all around the world from a relatively poor country - none of them will ever speak out against him because hes a gangster with a legit army. "Revolution of dignity" is the name given to the event - i didnt make it up.
Propaganda in terms of what people voted for is not what they got - as is the case in many elections. The candidate was a corrupt Russian puppet and lied to get elected at a time when there was great unhappiness about the eocnomic situaiton aftter the global financial crisis. He then tried to push the country towards Russia subjugation. Ukrainians did not put up with his lies or actions, which is what caused the 'revolution'.
The US elections were not suspect. Perhaps some people dont like the result and some of the electoral rules are admittedly ridiculous, but that doesnt mean they are suspect any more than any election is. What Trump and his entourage say does not change this in any way.
Russia's power has declined massively from the Cold War era, this is indisputable. to compare, Africa has lots of commodities but that doesnt mean anything on its own in terms of geopolitical power. Supply of commodities does give Russia some leverage, as does its aggressive approach to geopolitics, and its alignment with China against the US, but even China is turning against it now, so lets see where its at in 12 months.
Nordstream 2 was cancelled one day after Russia invaded, so obv not that big an influence even if it was well publicised.
The Ukrainians wanted to move towards the EU - I have several Ukrainian and other Eastern European friends who have told me this explicitly first hand. Russia helped their puppet leader get elected to try and stop this, so after the Ukrainians turfed him out, they obviously had the West's support. I agree that the West's actions might not have gone down well with Russia, but they definitely do not warrant the total destruction of the country that is happening now. You must agree with me on this?
Yes, many people arent happy with *****, Macron or Johnson, but these leaders arent trying to hand over political and economic control of their countries to foerign dictators. If they were, the same thing would happen to them as happened to Yanukovych. You cant compare any of those elected leaders in long-established developed democracies to *****, a dictator who has been in power for decades and changes the laws and narrative of his country at will.
Assad used chemical weapons against his own people. He asked the Russians for assistance because he knew NATO would do to him what happened to another horrific, murderous dictator who looted his country continuously, Gadaffi. NATO would not go up against Russia, which is how Assad managed to avoid getting himself killed. It was his only way out. This also happ[ened to be advantageous for ***** in expanding his sphere of influence.

I dont get my information from the BBC, geopolitics is my job. I'm not taking a biased view either and I agree that its not always we are good and they are bad. Im also not dis*****g the US role in Ukraine, as you mentioned, or that people in East Ukraine speak Russian.

I do dispute the crimea referendum results - you would never get 97% of a vote like that in one direction, especially in favour of a foreign dictator taking over. I also dispute your view on ***** - he is bad (if you believe in personal and sovereign liberty) and he has proved it again and again through his actions - it isnt the West that have made him this way with their meddling, as you originally suggested - it is a function of his formation as a KGB Soviet strongman.

EDIT: I'd add - I normally woudn't "rant" like this, or respond to the large number of trolls on this site or others who post in supoprt of Russia for nonsense reasons. However, the content of your post clearly shows you are not a troll and have an active interest in the reasoning behind recent developments.
