Prospects are protected even longer these days

Is it just me or are prospects and young name fighters being held back even longer than they used to be? Prospects have always had a slow build they eventually fight older fighters with a name or journeymen before finally moving on to the top of their division and I get why it’s necessary from a business standpoint but it seems they are protected even more now then they were even 5-10 years ago. Am I just a disgruntled fan or is there actually some truth in it? I’m sure some of it is covid some of it is so many different promoters but that can’t be the true reason. Just a random thought I had and was curious how others felt

Probably the exact opposite, social media has made fighters move up faster all it takes is one fight and you get killed on social media if you take a step back for most fighters anyway. An example of this is is Wilder and A.J if you go back further it was Klitschkos had much more prospect fights until they got in the spot light . I remember when fighters didn’t fight anyone until their 30 something fight .

Im using heavyweights as the example, look at A.Js resume ,now look at DDD , Hrgovic and Joyce’s none have near 20 fights but they are knocking on title shots .

It's about the same. Now with all these social media platforms they promote themselves more and you hear more about them. I seen a lot of soviet fighters moved very fast and a couple of young stars getting a shot at a title with less than 20 fights.

Joyce is 36 years old and Hrgovic is 29 years old...I freaking hope they are knocking on the doorsteps of a title shot. Using the limited amount of fights for older fighters is not the way to go about it. If they were 21 or 22 years old? Then they would need more developmental fights obviously. But that is not the case.

Anyways, prospects probably are moved slower in today's boxing landscape. Thomas Hearns was 22 years old when he was already a top 5 P4P fighter fighting SRL for the first time. Now someone of that age would be considered "green."

We did see Teofimo Lopez become champion at the age of 22 and defeat Lomachenko at the age of 23. Shakur Stevenson is a two division champion at the age of 24 and Bam just became a champion at the age of 22 so some youngsters do get moved quickly.

Facts. Benavidez and Charlo have a prospect level resume.

Not the Cubans. Check the resume of Ariel Perez, David Morell Jr. Yoelvis Gomez, Bruzon, Scull, and the five others fighting out of Dubai.

Yeah man, you can't be 27 years old and still be a prospect. Manny beat Barrera's ass at the age of 24?
