What else was he involved with? I mean yeah it’s a bad stoppage, but I don’t think anything really gonna be done about it. Ortega’s ultimate defense is that he’s protecting the boxer from injury, which is a pretty good defense to have. As a ref, you have a responsibility to protect the boxers. We’ve seen what has happened in the past.

Stoppage was still garbage anyways.

First...yeah, it was a bad stoppage.

But, look at the replay and put yourself in the referee's shoe. Russell landed a shot up top that momentarily had Postol out on his feet. Victor seemed to be gathering his wits about him but never threw a punch again and his hands were down.

Me? With only 29 seconds left I think I would try to give a guy who's never been stopped a chance to finish on his feet.

But, if Russell lands another big shot and hurts Postol, the conversation we're all having now is different. So I understand the rationale tho I disagree with it.
