Hector Garcia capitalized on the opportunity of his lifetime Saturday night. The largely unknown underdog overwhelmed heavily favored 130-pound contender Chris Colbert en route to beating up the brash Brooklyn native and winning a 12-round unanimous decision in Showtime's main event from The Chelsea inside The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. Colbert thought that he was going to have an easy night and got beaten up. Colbert didn't have an answer for Garcia's timing and half step back with a counter.

I also think this is what happens when you take an opponent on short notice. Posters forget all the work that goes on during camp to prepare for the scheduled opponent.

Frankly, more talented fighters than Colbert have gotten upset against opponents on short notice just like he did.

Garcia just never got the exposure and high profile competition previously to show his skills . He definitely has a good amateur pedigree. Colbert was classy in defeat , making no excuses. He just had zero answers for Garcia.
