The quick and easy solution to avoid the percieved threat of NATO is to invite Russia to join NATO.

If you can't beat them, join them and take it over. Russia would get trashed in an all out war with NATO.

As a partner it could oust America from European affairs, ditch the roubles for Euro currency by joining the Union and cripple the UK in the process.

Invading Ukraine is a short term fix in his lifetime. Long term, Russia needs to get over its poor relation status and insecurity to embrace its destiny as Europe's future.

That's normal. As you get older, you get worried for the end to come and need some peace of mind for when it does. Grabbing to whatever it is can make you feel at ease to pass on. The truth might be as simple as, you came from the nothing, you go back to nothing. You remember life back when Lincoln freed the ******? No? Right, because you weren't born yet.
