I get where you are coming from but we Latino-Americans will never be seen as just American by the majority here. Hence the labels in the US. It’s a way to differentiate who is white and who is other.

In England, a person who’s ethnicity is Jamaican, Nigerian, Indian, Pakistani, Chinese, Bengali, born and raised in Great Britain, is British. Lennox Lewis is not a Jamaican-British. Hamed is not Yemeni-British. Amir Khan is not Pakistani-British. Joshua isn’t Nigerian-British.

The US considers white Americans, Americans. No matter their ancestry. German, Irish, Polish, etc. Whatever white ancestry you have, you are okay, just an American. You belong.

If you are a latino though, first thing that crosses some people’s minds is if you can be deported or if you are here undocumented. Even if you’re born here. You don’t “look” the part. You are not white. Let’s make sure we classify you as being non-white. You are Latino-American, African-American, Chinese-American, Indian-American, etc. Despite latinos having way more Native American than these white Americans, we are not full Americans. My 10% Indigenous American ancestry is 10% more than most Euro-Americans that call me Latino-American and call themselves American.

So yeah. Latino Americans, all we have is really our culture, we are already not American enough to be called just Americans. At least let us have the pride of our “other” country that the majority labels us from. If Benavidez is going to be labeled a Mexican by those people, then he has the right to claim Mexico as a culture and as his people.

(Not saying you are white, latino, black. Idk what you are. Just addressing your comment as best I can)

Dont matter now or later. Benavidez is still gonna whoop his ass. Berlanga will probably lose before he gets to Benavidez

Benavidez would demolish Berlanga. Hopefully Edgar shows some good improvement though.

You're absolutely right about the Corceres vs Saunders fight being very close up until Saunders got the stopped win.
It can be argued that Berlanga could be 18-0 (18 KO's) due to the following reason's, Nicholson was dropped 4 times, and on the verge of a clean knockout when the bell sounded ending the fight, and Corseres eye was swollen shut before the end of the fight.
The referee would've been well within his rights for stopping either one of those fights due to the damage sustained by both of his opponent's.
The referee opted to let those fights continue to the end, and Berlanga stamina, and ability to overcome adversity were put to the test.
I would actually like to see Berlanga fight Davis, Angulo, and Ellis, those are fighters that are a decent test for anyone in boxing.

If they were to fight in the near future I believe that Benavidez would would beat Berlanga.
In a year or two I think that we have a real good fight on our hands, and you never count out a puncher.
The thing/ability that Benavidez has over Berlanga is his athleticism he is smooth, and fluid with his combination's.
Berlanga is to stiff, muscular, tight, he needs to work on quick flowing combination's, instead of loading up on every punch.

David Benavidez is a fine fighter with some decent wins on his record, when he's in the ring he's as responsible a fighter as their is in the game.
It's his out of the ring activities that have cost his career dearly, such as lack of professional discipline, drug use, and not making weight.
I don't believe that Benavidez is afraid of Berlanga, I don't think that Berlanga's career has lost any of it's momentum at all MSG will be sold out for his next fight.
Waiting for a year, or two before their fight takes place, will definitely benefit Berlanga as far as building up his stamina, and experience.

Benavidez hopes his easy touch opponent gets better so that big Dave can fight with a no hope..in the future.
It's good to see these young guys planing for the future. Run off a few easy wins, claim to be avoided, awesome.

While a fight between Benavidez and Berlanga seems good on paper, it is my opinion that David Benavidez would whoop the **** out of Edgar Berlanga. Benavidez has all the tools to make Berlanga look super bad on his way to an embarrassing knockout win. Fight wouldn't last 5 rounds imho.

Berlanga got rocked multiple times by a journeyman last fight and was in danger of being stopped and people talking about Benavidez? lol.
