Comments Thread For: Hearn: Kell Brook Against Conor Benn is a Brilliant Fight

Eddie Hearn, who promotes welterweight contender Conor Benn, would love to match his boxer against former world champion Kell Brook. Last Saturday night at the Manchester Arena, Brook got the most satisfying victory of his entire career - when he stopped longtime rival Amir Khan in six rounds of action.

But just last week Hearn said he probably wouldn’t watch Brook vs Khan because “both guys are pretty much washed up”

Hearn is still salty Brook did the Crawford fight without him. And I don’t necessarily blame him. He made Brook & Brook cut him out of a big fight. Im just calling out his hypocrisy for claiming Brook is washed (which he is) & then turning around & saying that he’s a good opponent for his new fighter

Hearn is terrible matchmaker. He ruined Brook by throwing him to GGG, now he wants to throw him to young lion Benn.

Brook should fight Maidana at 160 for example. Two old dudes.

Benn should fight Avanesyan or Boots, even better.

Id prefer brook v eubanks at 154. Benn not fought anyone and trying to make a name for himself, but brook don't get much from it.
But I'm sure brook will want to fight for title

Brook should fight Avanesyan... beating Avanesyan would give him one more shot at a world title (if he wants one).

Any matchmaker suggesting their fighter should fight Boots should be fired... Boots is a monster and no sane 147-er will fight him unless he has to.

Brook can`t make 147. beating somebody at 150 catchweight won`t give him a title shot.

Kell Brook does not get out of bed for fights with prospects at this stage of his career. Vacant title maybe.

Depends what you want from the match... Managers are meant to really think about the long term for his fighter when match-making, promoters are meant to maximise the pot and make everyone the most money - which Hearn is incredible at. Its why The Ali Reform Act exists.

Brook vs Benn would be a huge event. I also think Brook could beat Benn, which would put him right back in the 147-154 mix, if that's what he wants. I suspect Brook now just wants the biggest paydays tho, which is the right attitude at his age and stage of career.

So again, Brook vs Benn feels quite a good move.
