Ruiz v Toney 'will be done in 48 hours'

By Anthony Evans: WBA No.1 contender James Toney's upcoming challenge to champion John Ruiz will be the first of a multi-fight deal with Don King, according to promoter Dan Goossen.

The Goossen Tudor boss says he expects the deal to link 'Light's Out' with King's ever-expanding stable of heavyweights to be inked by Wednesday. Purse bids are due March 18 but a deal will be struck before then.

"We're looking further on than doing this as a one-off with Don," Goossen told SecondsOut.

WBA champ Ruiz, dubbed 'the Quiet Man', has been extremely vocal in calling out his rival title-holders and has essentially dismissed three-division champ Toney as a blown up middleweight. The mandatory defence will most likely take place in May or June.

"John Ruiz has been anything but 'the Quiet Man' as regarding James Toney but James has assured me that Ruiz will be silence once the first bell sounds," Goossen added.

I sort of give some respect for Ruiz because he has never ducked a fight. Not sure if I missed any but he has fought everyone that they put against him. Unlike some fighters like Byrd and Rahman in particular.

I do not necessarily like Jane Louise,

But I would like to see him hug Toney to a win, or somehow K.O. that

fat slob. I promise he and Stone are working on something to neutralize Toney's counterpunching.

Maybe he will wear plated gloves, and break Toney's last will.
