Rocky Martinez Wants Guerrero This Year, Mandatory May Alter His Palns

It seems that not only Ivan Calderon could go after a unification fight against a champion of the International Boxing Federation (IBF).

The owner of the 130-pound World Boxing Organization (WBO) title, Roman "Rocky" Martinez, who on Saturday retained his title with a knockout in the ninth round over Colombian Feider Viloria, could unify his crown against American Robert Guerrero before the end of the year.

But before we shall see what happens with the mandatory fight in which Martinez has in agenda with Kevin Mitchell.

"Rocky" is an elite fighter. He had a head injury in his fight with Viloria and I understand the Commission suspended him for 30 or 40 days, but also has a mandatory fight in agenda against Kevin Mitchell in December, "said Ivan Rivera, president of Puerto Rico Best Boxing .

However, the manager of Martinez did not rule out that this mandatory fight go to an auction that could dilate-and could allow the Puerto Rican to make his dream come trough with a match against Guerrero.

"At one point, we made an offer (to fight with Mitchell), but it is quite possible that as this is a mandatory then it will have to go through an auction process. Meanwhile, we are attentive to Guerrero or even Humberto Soto (World Boxing Council champion), "he said.

With his win on Saturday, Martinez improved its record to 23-0-1 and 14 knockouts.

I dont think he is ready for Soto, but he can give Guerrero a run for his money and posibbly KO him.

Much respect to Rocky martinez , good he wants to fight the best , but in my opinion hes not ready , Guerrero is not the best out there ,he look sometimes like hes slappin his opponents with open hands , But he will definetly take it to martinez , i think martinez needs a couple more fights , he showed more patience in his last fight , but at the end he took it with his brawling abbilities , he also showed a more perfected and in progress boxing style , he jabbed a lot , he tried going to the body , he is walking the ring a lot better , he is learning , i gotta see what his peak will be , but not right now , the only thing i think he will take guerrero at is his heart , being mexican-american , guerrero doesnt seem to have a big heart like mexicans are known to have. But we'll see , good fight tho , like in a year or so.

I think skils wise guerrero is much better than ROcky no doubt.

But the way ROcky fights will be tough for Guerrero to over come.

Rocky throws a lot, pushes the fight and have power in both hands.

Plus his great chin.

Guerrero vs Martinez is a case of, if guerrero doesnt KO him early, he would be in deep ****!!!!!!!

i like guerrero's game.this will be interesting.rocky looks like a boricua arturo gatti.still has a ways to go before he's as exciting as gatti was, but i could see it.

...and lol at rocky KO'ing Guerrero.............Rocky is fun to watch and aggressive but he aint a puncher.....i do agree rockys heart and pressure may allow him to make Guerrero look bad late though.......but easy decision for guerrero....hell, if his left lands clean enough, he might get the KO(though i doubt it)
