i think the perception with RJJ is because he was in a class all by himself that he didn't fight good fighters which is not exactly true

he beat good boxers like Hopkins, Toney,Mccallum and also Virgil Hill

but for me the way he beat John Ruiz was just incredible not because Ruiz is great coz he ain't however he is still a heavyweight and Roy took a risk going up to fight him no one did it since Spinks beat Holmes so yeah great achievement it was all pretty much downhill from there though

yea, but Roy arguably lost that Tarver fight.

its definitely Toney. no questions asked. Hopkins wasnt near prime form yet, and Ruiz...well, Toney beat up Ruiz worse than Roy. and Ruiz was not the best HW in the world, as Holmes was when Spinks beat him.

James Toney. Hopkins isn't really anybody.

James Toney, he was the man back then and Jones completely took him to school.

I believe!—this post. Cheers so far, guys. It seems pretty clear-cut that it's Toney (even though I've never really loved the fight itself).

Bernard Hopkins... his first title fight, at only 21-0.. he beat a fighter that didnt lose for another 12 years, afterwards.

James Toney... 44-0 p4p#2 in the world... Roy moved UP IN WEIGHT, and barely lost a round.

Montell Griffin II... After receiving his first official loss via disqualification, and also a pretty decent test, where Montell gave him problems... Roy destroys him in less than one round.

Virgil Hill... HOF fighter, who gets his ribs broken with a body shot.

Roy at LHW... held the WBC, WBA, IBF, IBO, NABF, WBF, IBA, and Ring Magazine light heavyweight championships.... all at the same time.

John Ruiz... a fighter with a pretty decent resume himself... it's not really about how "great" John Ruiz is... but the fact that Roy started off as a Jr. MW, and a MW champion to move up and Beat Ruiz,.. and was outweighed by 30lbs... he barely lost a round

Antonio Tarver... After having to drop down two weight classes... he BARELY edged out a victory against the #1 LHW champion in Tarver... to become a 3 time LHW champion.

True, but he still showed something that we'd never seen from him before.

And there's no comparison between Spinks-Holmes and Jones-Ruiz.

                  Thanks. Informative stuff.

What did he actually weigh against Ruiz, though? I keep hearing conflicting numbers out there, like 193 or 218. I'd say he looked just about on 200, if not 190.

I thought he won the Tarver fight,It was pretty clear to see what Tarver was attempting the entire fight and while it was effective,You can't rely on such tactics every single round.

7-5 to Jones IMO.Jones should have told Tarver to fight him at cruiserweight
