    How good was Hector Camacho?

My own opinion is that when young , he wa sa killer, and when older, the slickest boxer imaginable. His simplistic mentality combined with his mental instability led him far away from big money fights, He had his chances but rarely took them preferring to fight ther whole 10 or 12 rounds virtually unscathed. He had a great chin and, after Rosario, was rarely bothered , often doing just enough to win, regardless of whether his opponent was good or mediocre.

Hector Jr. whom I recall vividly as almost a baby , brought into the ring by Macho before some of his bigger fights, began well, but slacked off training and paid the price, from which he never recovered. No dedication from him.,

At his absolute best he was very very good even great but once he ran into Chapo Rosario he was never the same he changed his style to a pot shotter.

Also had one of the best chins ever.

Great fighter with tremendous speed, who fell somewhere short of ATG status.

His Macho Man shtick was misleading. If it didn't rhyme with his last name, he would not call himself Macho Man.
He did have the honor of ending SRL and Duran's career.

Yes,you've hiut it just right. And you know something....watching Shields and Hannah Gabriels, I was sure that Gabriels moves, footwork etc, on occasions reminded me of those of Camacho. Don't know if anyone noticed. I thought she just won, anyway, not by a big margin but enough to win.

Camacho was the hottest thing in the sport for a while. Imo very good but not necessarily great because of drugs, liquor, whores and partying. IMO would’ve been an ATG.
