Every legend and ATG of the last 60 years or so have traveled and fought in enemy territory. The biggest upsets in boxing history have happened on unfamiliar grounds... look at Tyson in Japan, Foreman in Zaire, Joshua in the U.S., Pacquiao in Australia/Vegas, etc.
True ATGs:
Duran fought in France, Argentina, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Canada, Panama, etc.
Ali fought in the Philippines, Zaire, Puerto Rico, England, West Germany, Switzerland, Ba*****, Japan, Canada, Ireland, Indonesia, Malaysia, etc.
Pacquiao has fought in the Philippines, Thailand, Japan, China, Australia, Malaysia, etc.
Tyson has fought in Japan, England, Scotland, Denmark, etc.
Robinson fought in Mexico, Belgium, France, England, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Canada, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago, etc.
Archie Moore fought in Australia, Mexico, Italy, Panama, Argentina, Uruguay, Canada, England, Germany, Brazil, Philippines, etc.
Foreman fought in Zaire, Japan, Venezuela, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Canada, England, etc.
Gomez fought in Panama, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, Japan, Thailand, etc.
Hagler fought in England, Monaco, Italy, etc.
Roy Jones Jr. fought in Australia, Russia, Poland, Latvia, etc.
Trinidad fought in Mexico, Italy, Puerto Rico, France, etc.
Klitschko brothers fought in Russia, Austria, Germany, Ukraine, Poland, Hungary, England, Switzerland, etc.
Golovkin has fought in Germany, Panama, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Monaco, Denmark, England, etc.
Oscar has fought in Puerto Rico, Leonard in Canada, Barrera in the UK, Canelo in Mexico, Hopkins in Ecuador, France, etc.
Spence traveled to Kell Brook's hometown of Sheffield to stop him and take his title in front of a hostile crowd.
The list goes on and on. For many of these fighters, the U.S isn't even their home country....
Floyd is the only one who has never fought outside his hometown, not even once.
Floyd is the champion of Vegas, these other men were true champions of the WORLD.
Would Floyd still be undefeated if he had fought in Europe, Asia, South America…. in front of hostile crowds, biased referees and judges, having to adapt to different timezones/weather, without any hometown advantages while risking getting drugged or cheated?
Floyd Mayweather will never be the TBE. That title belongs to those that took risks to prove themselves as MEN.
